The Drowsy Chaperone is loving pastiche (not a parody) of Musical Theatre (particularly 1920’s Musicals).
From his New York apartment the ‘Man in the Chair’ enthusiastically narrates and commentates his favourite musical, “The Drowsy Chaperone”, for the entertainment of the audience. Actors from the original stage show - set in the late 1920’s, come to life from his record player and share their performances (via Man in the Chair) in his kitchen and living room. Mistaken identifies, a dream sequence, spit takes, a ditzy chorine, a Latin lothario, roller-skating and a Drowsy (Tipsy) upstaging, Chaperone, this show has it all, and more.
